She started throwing up on Sunday afternoon and it kept up all night and into Monday. I took her out to my Daddy (her vet) last night and he thought her liver was failing and we were going to lose her. Obviously, I freaked out. I was ready to pack her up and drive her directly to the LSU Vet School at about 100 miles an hour. He took blood and we hooked her up to an IV and I laid in the living room floor with her all night. She didn't even want to open her eyes. BUT- thankfully, Sacred Heart Hospital does blood work at 7pm and you can call for the results at 9:20pm even if it's for a dog.
It wasn't her liver, which means she's much less likely to lose the battle with whatever she's fighting because she wasn't poisoned. Or probably wasn't. I was up with her all night, though, and she can't even keep three laps of water down. It's so sad!
I left her with my parents today at the clinic (Mama works with Daddy there). She was on forced bed rest on a huge fluffy comforter and one of my mom's microfiber throws. Last night she had Van on a vintage pillow. She's in the best of hands. But it's killing me to not be with her so I came in to work 2 hours late and I'm about 5 minutes from leaving an hour and a half early. Considering I called my boss in hysterics last night and he's met my world's most perfect dog multiple times- I get away with this.
More IVs tonight and if she doesn't start recovering, ???
Van on a much better day. Is she not beautiful?
PS- for those of you who don't know, she's missing most of her left ear and is a Cajun dog. Thus Van Geaux, the play on Van Gogh.
poor baby!! I will def say prayers for this cajun honey
